Downtown Hendersonville is the heart of the city, where you’ll find an impressive but still quaint collection of shops, eateries, and activities that capture the essence of this mountain town. Strolling down Main Street, you’ll discover everything from boutique shops to local galleries, making it a perfect spot to explore at your own pace.
I’d suggest finding a spot to park and taking a stroll! We found a spot near the top of downtown, but there are plenty of lots and spots surrounding the area. Most of the parking is paid, but the rates are reasonable and worth it for the convenience.
Be sure to check the hours of the places you want to visit before heading out. Many shops and attractions close earlier than you might expect—often around 5-5:30 PM. It’s part of Hendersonville’s charm, but can be a bit of a surprise if you’re used to later hours, or if you’re like us and trying to pack each day full of exploring.
Another thing we noticed is there are lots of tables and benches around, perfect for kicking back and relaxing. It’s an ideal spot for a casual wander or just soaking up the vibe.
Best Places to Eat In Hendersonville North Carolina
McFarlan Bakery
A visit to Hendersonville isn’t complete without stopping by McFarlan Bakery, a hometown favorite known for its delicious, made-from-scratch treats. Trust me, their donuts are worth every calorie!
We happened to be there around the Apple Festival, and the staff mentioned that during the event, the line will go on for blocks, and they’ll completely sell out before the weekend is over. They close for the entire week afterward to remake everything from scratch. Talk about incredible!
Dinner at Brandy’s on Main
When it’s time for dinner, take a recommendation from the locals and head to Brandy’s on Main. This quaint restaurant exudes cozy charm, complete with a live piano player that sets the perfect mood. The drink menu is top-notch and the food lived up to the hype, making it the perfect end to our day. Make sure to call ahead for reservations, especially on weekends!

Jump Off Rock also has a few hiking trails for those looking to explore further, but the main attraction is the lookout, which is easily accessible from the parking lot—no hiking required if you’re just there for the view.
