Prepare your 2 x 2 boards to attach the shiplap (I laid these 20″ apart)

What is Used to Make Plant Walls?
Here is the list of all the supplies I used to make my shiplap plant wall. Most of these you can grab from your local home improvement store, except the hanging pot clips, and I found these on Amazon.
Depending on whether your plant wall is for indoor or outdoor use, you’ll need drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. If your plant wall is to create an indoor accent wall, then for obvious reasons, you won’t want this.
If you find a container you love that doesn’t have a drain hole, you can always screw holes into the bottom to create drainage.
- Shiplap boards (5)
- 2×2 boards (2)
- Terra-cotta individual pot (12) I used 6 inch
- Hanging pot clips (12) I found these on amazon and sprayed them white
- White spray paint (1) For the pot clips
- Plants and flowers (I love shopping at my local nursery and each year I’ll pick new plants)
Plant Wall Watering and Maintenance

This style of wall planters requires your average amount of maintenance and care.
Since these plants are in smaller pots and are small plants, regular watering and maintenance are really important to keep your plants healthy and thriving.
When choosing plants, consider the amount of sun your wall will get. Natural plants and flowers give a more authentic look, but fake plants would also work well on your plant wall.
Watering
Watering is quick and easy because of how small each container is and also due to the layout of the pots. Start at the top of the wall and work your way down.
You’ll notice the vertical plant wall is self-watering because the drainage will run out of the bottom into the pot below it.
Maintenance
Keep up with removing dead leaves and checking for pests to help keep your plant wall looking its best.
